With so many photos, I'm thinking that the export-import method may work best, but I'll try the smart album trick in a bit and report back.ĭownload and run Etrecheck. I haven't tried this just yet, but I have been able to get the thumbnails and photos to work if I rotate them one way and then rotate them back. I also have a library of 35k+ photos with many of them in RAW format. I do have a home installed solid state hard drive ( a home made fusion drive) and so maybe that's something.

I upgraded the RAM to maybe help the problem and I was finally able to get it through a full repair cycle, but oddly enough, it didn't work.

What else happened other than the upgrade to macOS 10.13.6? After the upgrade you may have problems with Photos Libraries, if they are on a NAS or an external drive, that has been used by Time Machine or is not formatted MacOS Extended (Journaled). Let it run over night and do not interrupt a repair. How long have you been waiting, after the repair is hanging? or a very large library, the repair can take a very long time without any visible progress for hours. The furthest I've seen it get is ~80% and it stalls out. I've tried to repair but I haven't seen it ever finish the repair.
